Welcome to Carraig Kennels, the home of beautiful Golden Retrievers, bred for soundness and temprament. Carraig is the gaelic word for "rock" and at one time, was a beautiful castle in the western highlands of Scotland. When I was looking for a name for our kennels that would signify the rock solid dependability of this magnificent dog, Carraig was the natural choice.
We are a small kennel located in New Brunswick, Canada, near the tourist town of Sussex, focusing on producing a strong, well-boned dog, with the natural instincts and temprament that the Golden is famous for.
Ch. Pyepeke's Golden Marquis (Ch. Dierenvriend Juli Justin Oscar,CDX x Ch. Stoneleath Mindy of Pyepeke, CDX) July 19, 1992 - Mar. 15, 2007 . Canadian Kennel Club Champion. Eyes cleared, Hips OFA Good. Heigth at shoulders 24". Weight: 80 lbs. English type. Trained in obedience and retrieving.(Photo by Studio Baie, Dean Dennis)
Better known as "Scooter", this beautiful solid male lived to work. He was happiest when on the obedience lead or waiting for a retrieve command, as shown in this championship photo, when a container of pebbles was thrown to get his attention. Scooter and our female Chessie, produced several litters of nicely sized and well-boned puppies.

"Chessie", our breeding female, is shown at her gawkiest juvenile
stage,(11 mos.)with her outstanding sire, Homer.
Nicely boned, and well built, Chessie carries a number of fine bloodlines,
including that of the well known "Teddy", Ch. Stoneleath's Larkspur.
Shown here with handler Evelyn Hoyt, Chessie won several Best Puppy in
Breed, then returned home to put on a little bulk and maturity. Homer is

Blowin' in the wind, this was Rusty's championship photo,
posed on the end of a dock, at lakeside. Rusty was a beautiful American
type Golden, with a ton of coat that reached almost to the ground at his
chest.
He typified the best of everything in a Golden. Superb temprament, patience,
beauty and brains. From Rusty I learned many things. How to show, how to
avoid the politics, how to perservere..and most of all, how NOT to buy
a dog- without a contract. Rusty was purchased in Vermont from a breeder
who did not have a contract, but who came recommended. As it turned out,
three of the six males in his litter, had dysplasia. Rusty was championed
and then retired.
